8 things to know about the St. Augustine Film Festival

With 48 films from 20 different countries, there's a little something for everyone at the ninth annual St. Augustine Film Festival.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Movie stars, directors and film enthusiasts will unite Thursday for the ninth annual St. Augustine Film Festival (SAFF) and First Coast News has all you need to know about the event.

Four days; Six venues

The St. Augustine Film Festival is a four-day festival beginning Jan. 17 and ending on Sunday, Jan. 20.

During the Festival, films will be screened at the Lewis Auditorium, The Corazon Cinema & Cafe and the Gamache-Koger Theatre in Ringhaver Student Center. Each screening site is a 3-5 minute walk from each other. 

Parties and additional events will take place at The Markland House, the Flagler College Solarium and the Lightner Museum.

Tickets for any film are available at the door

Almost 1,000 seats are available across the screening sites, but festival officials suggest arriving 10 to 15 minutes ahead of the film to buy tickets at the door.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $7 for military, first responders and students with ID. For more information, click here.

There's a film for everyone

With 48 films from 20 different countries, there's a little something for everyone at this year's festival.

This year's lineup includes French comedies, Czech documentaries, Hungarian dramas, American classics, indie up-and-comers, and so much more.

Expect to see some famous faces

This year's guest list includes actress/director Karen Allen, famous for her role as Marion Ravenwood in the Indiana Jones franchise. Also on the guest list is singer and actor Robert Schwartzman, lead vocalist of the rock band Rooney and known for his role as Michael Moscovitz in "The Princess Diaries."

Allen will be awarded the SAFF Lifetime Achievement Award and will screen her latest film "A Tree. A Rock. A Cloud," which she directed.

Schwartzman will also screen a film he directed called "Unicorn." Both Allen and Schwartzman will answer audience questions during Q&As after the screenings.

Get to know the First Coast's connection to The Walking Dead

Walking Dead producer Ryan Buffa, a Flagler College graduate, will screen her short film " Apples and Oranges" on both Saturday and Sunday. 

Discover local talent

Among the films screened will be "Cracking Aces: A Woman's Place at the Table," produced by Flagler College professor Tracy Halcomb. The documentary highlights women breaking the glass ceiling in the male-dominated sport of professional poker. 

Flagler College students will also showcase their films on Saturday.

Have fun in a $2 million Porsche 

Festival-goers can take pictures with a $2 million Porsche previously raced by Hurley Haywood, America's most decorated race car driver and a St. Augustine resident.

Meet the stars

Each day will end with a night of parties and lights in the Ancient City, where film-goers will have a chance to eat and drink with the films' stars, producers and directors.
