JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Travelers continued to line up at the Delta counter at the Jacksonville International Airport over the weekend.

Delta canceled 1,000 flights nationwide Friday and canceled an additional 350 flights on Saturday due to wintry weather in Atlanta, a major hub for the airline. Many people were left waiting in Jacksonville.

“I’ve been waiting a little over three hours, so it’s taking awhile,” said Brayden Clark of Salt Lake City.

“I've been training all week with a company and just want to go home. It's the holidays and got a list a mile long of things to get done," said Kansas City resident Pam Willard.

Many travelers with canceled flights Friday came back to the airport Saturday, only to find out it’s canceled yet again.

“They rescheduled me and then that scheduling got goofed up. It was supposed to go through United but they never got the records," Clark said.

Others drove for hours to JIA hoping to catch a flight back home.

“I rented a car, came up to Jacksonville. As soon as we got to Jacksonville, canceled all flights," said Roy Nielsen from Rockford, Michigan.

Flyers said they've been on the phone for at least two hours trying to get ahold of a Delta representative. They also tried going online to its website to resolve their issue.

“It was so slow at first I thought maybe it was my computer but I'm hearing maybe the website had some issues too," Willard said.

Delta said it’s working around the clock to get flights sorted out, but it could be until Monday before travelers can take off.

If your flight was affected by the weather, Delta says you can do one of two things. You can go to delta.com and change your flight one-time without paying a fee, or if your flight is canceled or significantly delayed, you can request a refund.
