Alyssa Lang is a sports anchor and reporter at First Coast News. She comes to Jacksonville from WLTX in Columbia, South Carolina, where she covered the Gamecocks, Clemson Tigers, Carolina Panthers, prep football and more.
Alyssa graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. By the time she was a sophomore in college, Alyssa spent time working with SPEEDTV, three local newspapers near Charlotte, and contributed articles to various websites that covered the New York Jets. Once she got to Columbia, she worked with the RIVALS.com affiliate GamecockCentral to cover South Carolina athletics.
When she was 19, Alyssa joined WLTX as a summer news intern, but sports was always her true passion. After completing her summer internship, she stayed on with the station to help shoot and produce the high school football show, "Friday Night Blitz."
She also worked as a news photographer, assignment desk editor, and reported on both news and sports stories. When the station launched "News19 Saturday Morning," Alyssa seized her chance on the anchor desk.
From there, she was a fill-in anchor and reporter...all while taking classes at USC. She eventually became the weekend sports anchor, just before starting her senior year of college. Some of the biggest stories she covered include the Carolina Panther's 2016 playoffs and NFC Championship, Jadeveon Clowney being drafted as the first overall pick, Clemson national title game, South Carolina women's basketball first Final Four, Steve Spurrier resigning and the arrival of Will Muschamp...just to name a few.
Alyssa is thrilled to continue working in SEC country, and cover another big cat- the Jags.
She is a fan of CrossFit, the beach, and her dog Beamer.
