ST AUGUSTINE - A St. Augustine man has created an app designed to keep his 10 year daughter and your kids safe. It's called Phonelock, a parental control app for Android phones.

Steve Vaughn says Phonelock lets parents control incoming and outgoing phone numbers and text messages on their child's phone. In addition, parents can retrieve the location of the phone anytime and disable both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Vaughn says he wrote the app because he couldn't find one quite like it.  "The olther apps gave reports that showed activity that she already did, information was also stored on the server and I didn't want any of that for my daughter's phone. I have a background in software development and I figure I might as well just write the app myself," says Vaughn.

Phonelock just came out two weeks ago.  The cost is $2.99. That's a one time charge with no monthly fee.  The PhoneLock app is installed on the child's phone which has to be an Android model. The parent's phone can be any model phone.
