Lauren Rautenkranz

Born and raised a Florida girl, Lauren is thrilled to be a part of the First Coast News team as a meteorologist in Jacksonville. She hopped on board in August 2016.

With her current position and previous work experience in Wilmington, North Carolina, she's been able to forecast everything from hurricanes and tornadoes to snow and ice.

Growing up in sunny south Florida, Lauren always loved visiting the beach year-round and spending time outdoors. She quickly learned how wonderful, yet how destructive Mother Nature can be. Experiencing a handful of hurricanes and watching endless hours of storm coverage, Lauren always knew from a very young age she wanted to make a difference in her community just like the meteorologists on TV.

Lauren holds a Master of Science in Applied Meteorology from Mississippi State University. However, her heart was first taken by the Gators (...sorry Bulldogs)!

She is a proud alumna of the University of Florida where she graduated from the College of Journalism and Communications. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications News with a concentration in Meteorology, plus minors in Geography and Communications Studies.

When Lauren isn't in the weather center, you can find her at the beach or spending time with her husband and fur-babies. She is a big fan of Gator football and basketball, plus enjoys discovering the local restaurants around town (can you say foodie?) and finding new, scenic routes for a long-distance run. Lauren loves attending events across the First Coast and meeting people. If you ever see her out and about, please say hello!
