Anthony Austin

In elementary school, Anthony's music teacher cast him as a news anchor in a school play, because she thought he resembled NBC Today Show Host Bryant Gumbel.  I guess you can say...the rest is history.

Anthony Austin joined First Coast News in January 2016 as an anchor and reporter.

He headed to the sunshine state after spending two years as the primary anchor at Time Warner Cable News in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Anthony grew up in East Texas. He graduated from the University of North Texas, where he majored in Broadcast Journalism and minored in Social Science.  For nearly six years, Anthony was an anchor and reporter at the CBS affiliate in his hometown of Tyler. He worked his way up from weekend anchor to the anchor of the 5 p.m. news while he was there.

Anthony’s most memorable assignment was visiting Iraq. For a week, Anthony spent time with the soldiers of Fort Hood as they prepared to come home. He told their stories, and showed viewers back home in Texas, what they were doing for our country and for the people of Iraq. Anthony was there as they returned home to their loved ones.

Outside of work, Anthony is a lover of good food and company. You can find him enjoying the restaurants and beautiful beaches in the Jacksonville area.

Anthony would love to hear from you.  You can email him at aaustin@firstcoastnews and follow him on Twitter at @AnthonyReports, Facebook, and Instagram.
