JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Thousands began the race at 7:30 a.m., running the marathon, or a half-marathon, or part of a relay team.
Thousands also lined the route cheering on the participants. Many of those participants were breast cancer survivors or running in honor of a cancer survivor or in memory of a loved one lost to breast cancer.
According to results posted by the Times-Union, Kennedy Kemei of Kenya won the marathon in an unofficial time of 2 hours, 20 minutes. He finished 2 minutes, 25 seconds ahead of fellow Chapel Hill, N.C., resident Kipyegon Kirui.
Anzhelika Averkova, a 41-year-old resident of Jackson, N.J., won the women's marathon in 2:36:49.
Costa Rican native Cesar Lizano, 28, won the half marathon in 1:10:16. Gabriela Trana, 30 of Costa Rica, won the women's half marathon in 1:18:43.
